Module 1 Objectives:
- Differentiate between the types of pain
- Recognize the history of pain treatment within a public health opioid crisis
- Describe how a multidisciplinary healthcare team contributes to an integrative pain care approach
- Distinguish between person-centered and stigmatizing language
Module 2
Assessment and Treatment of Pain
Module 2 Objectives:
- Recognize approaches for assessing pain symptoms and substance use risk
- Identify priorities for an integrative, holistic plan of care using current, evidence-based pain treatment principles
- Assess risks related to opioid prescribing for acute and chronic pain
Module 3
Risk Assessment and Treatment of Opioid Use Disorder
Module 3 Objectives:
- Recognize criteria for opioid use disorder diagnosis
- Describe medication treatment options for opioid use disorder
- Recognize approaches for assessing substance use, depression, and suicide risk
Module 4
Navigating Complex Pain Management Scenarios Using Person-centered Trauma-informed Care
Module 4 Objectives:
- Understand how trauma-informed care guidelines can be applied during clinical interactions
- Identify how a culturally responsive practice can be incorporated within person-centered care planning
- Recognize safe opioid storage and overdose education for patients and families
